The new Ford Mustang (pictured) on sale for Football fans
The new Ford Mustang is going to be available in the UK, and in right hand drive for the first time, and Ford has decided to make it a bit of an event. Sponsors of the UEFA Champions League since 1992, Ford has decided that the UEFA Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid in Lisbon, when Ford expects 70 million UK and European fans to tune in, is the ideal time to put the new Mustang up for sale. Ford is offering 500 pre-order Mustangs during the final – 130 of which will be RHD for the UK – in a choice of Fastback or convertible and with either the 324bhp 2.3 litre EcoBoost or the 420bhp 5.0 litre V8.
The Toyota FT-86 Concept will preview at Tokyo
The FT-86 (hachi roku is Japanese for 86) is a small (13′ 8″ long) rear-wheel drive sports coupe which is going to turn up not just as a Toyota but also as a Subaru. It uses the 2.0 Boxer engine found in the Impreza, but by the time it finds its way to market in 2011 – as both a Toyota and a Subaru – it’s likely to get the next generation Boxer lump. The FT-86 is Toyota’s way of launching itself back in to the sports market – a market it once did well in with cars like the MR2 – and gain some credibility, and custom, from younger drivers.
Peugeot 508 RXH - on sale Spring 2012
It’s a bit of a Peugeot day today, what with the impressive HX1 Concept news and now we learn that Peugeot’s take on the Audi Allroad – the Peugeot 508 RXK HYbrid4 – will get a public airing at Frankfurt next month before going on sale in Spring 2012. But you already know that; we told you back in July that Peugeot were planning on taking the 508 RXH to Frankfurt and that it would go on sale next Spring. So what’s news.
